InterCombi PH brings new hill options, claims Scheuerle
Heavy transport vehicle specialist Scheuerle is claiming a world first with the launch of a new platform trailer, the InterCombi PB.
Equipped with shiftable drive axles, and powered by a shiftable PowerPack Unit (PPU), the InterCombi can replace an additional tractor or banking machine on hilly transport routes, and can also be operated as a self-propelled unit, or coupled with other InterCombi platform trailers.
"It is the same height, width, and has the same couplings os standord platform trailers from the Scheuerle Combi series," said Scheuerle's Juliane Furst.
"The peculiarity is that it is equipped with drive axles and can be powered by a PPU.
"It means that we are now offering the optimum replacement wherever you would previously have needed on additional tractor or banking machine." Using the new equipment on a steep incline, the driver storts the 150 kW PPU before setting off, and, as soon as a single tractor no longer has sufficient power to manage the incline, in other words the speed drops below 14 km/h, the driving gear storts up automatically to provide sufficient thrust.
The additional driving gear also shuts off automatically once on incline has been overcome and rood conditions enable speed to be increased again.
"This means that the InterCombi is also the right vehicle for normal rood traffic in a trailer combination," said Furst.
"Once the driving gear is switched off, the drive unit can achieve a speed of 80 km/h in the transport combination. The InterCombi technology is also characterised by a stable chassis construction, axle compensation of +/- 325 mm, and a steering angle of 60°.
" For in-plant transports, the drive unit with the PPU, with or without InterCombi platform trailers, can be uncoupled from the tractor and controlled os a self-propelled transport combination using a mobile control unit. The hydrostatic drive, lifting and lowering functions, hydraulic steering, brake system and electric power supply can also be controlled using this unit.
TSP, Inc. and SCHEUERLE was selected to conduct a Concept Study to
develop a new Mobile Launch Vehicle Transporter to be used at Kennedy
Space Center in Cape Canaveral Florida.
The new transporter will be used to move the Mobile Launch Platform for the ARES V Rockets to the launch
site. The ARES V Rockets will be an integral part of the Constellation Space
Program.
TSP, Inc. President Toni Sabia was recently elected President of the SC&RA Foundation. The SC&R Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization,
provides support to the carrier, crane, rigging, and mill righting industries
by providing industry research, education and scholarships. Since its
inception, the Foundation has invested more than one-half million dollars
to advance the work of the industry.
TSP Recently became a member of AMI. AMI -The Association of
Marina Industries - is the international trade marine association for the
marina industry. AMI represents a diverse membership of over 1,500
marinas, boatyards, yacht clubs, and public/ private moorage basins across
the United States and around the world. These companies provide slip
space for over 240,000 recreation watercraft and employment for over
13,000 marine tradesmen and women. Suppliers of equipment and services
to this industry complete AMI's membership.
